[VIDEO] Why to avoid a diet rich in Saturated Fat
The danger of a diet high in saturated fat has been graphically illustrated after pictures of the fat-enveloped heart of a man who loves butter-rich foods were released.
Ahmed Al Haj has never smoked or drunk alcohol but the damage his unhealthy diet has had on his heart has now been unveiled as a warning to all.
The father-of-six has spent a lifetime eating ghee-rich foods from his native Bangladesh, enveloping his heart in a thick layer of fat.
The 48-year-old waiter has undergone open heart surgery during which the shocking pictures were taken.
The layer of fat was so thick surgeons struggled to see his coronary artery.
The pictures, taken at the University College Heart Hospital in London just a few weeks ago, have been released with Mr Haj’s permission to highlight the hidden damage done by fried snacks, pastries and buttery foods.
